This includes older adults with developmental and intellectual\r\ndisabilities, who need varying levels of support with things like transportation,\r\nshopping for groceries and clothes, and finding community employment. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>All\r\npeople, with and without disabilities, should be able to live where they\r\nchoose, with the people they choose. But older adults with developmental and\r\nintellectual disabilities often face barriers to finding the right housing for\r\ntheir needs and becoming fully immersed in their communities. However, through\r\nresidential living services like those offered by Graceworks Enhanced Living,\r\nolder adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities are able to live\r\nin homes, apartments, and communities of their choice with access to the care\r\nand supports they may need on a daily basis. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>According\r\nto the <a href=\"http:\/\/aaidd.org\/news-policy\/policy\/position-statements\/community-living-and-participation\">American Association of\r\nIntellectual and Developmental Disabilities<\/a>, there are numerous benefits to\r\nliving in smaller community settings. People with disabilities who live in\r\nthese environments lead safer, more independent, and more satisfying lives.\r\nLiving in a community setting allows residents to enjoy a rich social life in a\r\nwelcoming, family-like setting made up of their peers, something that they\r\nmight not have been able to experience if they lived with family or on their\r\nown. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Community\r\nliving gives older adults with disabilities a chance to live as independently as\r\npossible, enabling them to become more active and contributing members within\r\ntheir communities while still ensuring their needs for care and safety are\r\nmet.&nbsp; <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/graceworksenhancedliving.org\/\">Graceworks Enhanced Living<\/a>, we believe in the value of\r\ncommunity inclusion for everyone, and we understand how important it is to find\r\nsupportive residential services for loved ones with developmental and\r\nintellectual disabilities.
